Prof. Dr. Uday Salunkhe is the Group Director of Welingkar Institute of Management Development & Research (WeSchool), a self-financed business school in India with campuses in Mumbai and Bengaluru and ranking amongst the top 15 out of 5000 business schools in India. With education going global, Dr Salunkhe realizes it’s imperative to identify the right potential and develop students to face the VUCA world. He understands this inevitability – of bridging the academia – industry gap and thus interacts closely with multiple stakeholders. Dr. Salunkhe’s passion for leadership, design thinking & innovation has helped transform his Alma Mater, be it through launching of pioneering initiatives by way of academic programs, establishing partnerships with Universities/organizations across the globe, while connecting across communities ranging from Corporate India to Rural India. Coupled with this, his efforts to brand the Institute as “WeSchool”; has immensely helped in strengthening the institute’s brand image. Beyond his leadership role at WeSchool, Dr Salunkhe is actively associated with Universities and educational authorities both at the national and international level to improve the quality of management education. He is the State Governor’s Nominee on the Senate of University of Mumbai, Member of High Level Steering Committee of the School Education and Sports Department, Government of Maharashtra and Member of National Board of National Human Resource Development Network (NHRDN) and Former President of the Mumbai Chapter. Few other leadership positions which he has held in the past are: President AIMS (Association of Indian Management Schools, the 2nd largest network of business schools in the world) and Chairman, LMC AMDISA (Association of Management Development Institutions in South Asia- a SAARC initiative). He has the distinction of being the recipient of the prestigious Eisenhower Fellowship [focused on ‘Leadership Development’] and a recipient of several awards and accolades including ‘Ravi J. Mathai National Fellow Award’, MIEDA award for ‘Excellence in Education’ and recently the Grand Davos Award at World Communication Forum in March 2014.
