Marcia Layton is a student in the doctorate of business administration (DBA) program at the Fox School of Business at Temple University. Her dissertation research is documenting the field of book ghostwriting and the emergence of the profession. A ghostwriter herself, she has authored, co-authored, or ghostwritten more than 70 nonfiction books. Past projects have become New York Times bestsellers, award-winners, and commercial successes.

Layton was previously director of communications for Eastman Kodak Company’s business-to-business unit before leaving to start her own marketing agency. She is also the founder and executive director of the Association of Ghostwriters. She received her Master of Business Administration in Corporate Strategy and Marketing from the Stephen M. Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan and a Bachelor of Arts with Honors from Wellesley College.
