Judith Grant Long is Associate Professor of Sport Management and Urban Planning at the University of Michigan. Her research examines how sports venues, major sporting events, and urban development intersect, with a focus on financing models, delivery strategies, and host city outcomes. She is the author of Public-Private Partnerships for Major League Sports Facilities and the forthcoming Developing NFL Stadiums (Winter 2025), drawing on extensive venue data and field research. Dr. Long’s publications span major league sports, the Olympic Games, the FIFA World Cup, and the Tour de France, and her research has been featured in the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, NPR, and BBC Radio. A certified city planner, she serves on several industry boards and previously directed the Urban Planning Program at Harvard University. Dr. Long holds a PhD in Urban Planning and an MDes in Real Estate Development, both from Harvard University.
