Alex Cruden

After many years as a newsroom department head at the Detroit Free Press, Alex Cruden is a contract editor for the William Davidson Institute at the University of Michigan, Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan, the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University, and McConnell Communications Inc. of Detroit. He has edited 26 books (fiction and nonfiction), taught public affairs reporting at Wayne State University, and led more than 170 workshops and seminars for journalists, news media companies and other writing and editing organizations across the United States.
Also for the William Davidson Institute, Cruden is co-author, with Wayne Baker, of the case study “Preserving the Company Mission: The Perpetual Purpose Trust,” and author of the case study “Transforming a Successful Organization: Societal Changes Challenge the Alumni Association of the University of Michigan.”
He has a BA in English from Hamilton College.
