Originally from Montreal Canada, now a senior at Yale University, Kara is the co-founder of Yale’s largest undergraduate student-run social entrepreneurship organization. She has experience in development work specifically relating to public health, women’s empowerment, and small businesses growth in India, Cuba, Guatemala, and Mexico. Her senior thesis drew from her experience living and studying in Cuba, and explores the promise for the solidarity economy as Cuba transitions towards a mixed political-economic system. Prior to attending Yale, she received her International Baccalaureate from the United World College, where she represented Canada on a full scholarship. Kara is a recipient of the Prince Edward Social Change Award and the Lieutenant Governor of Quebec Youth Medal for civic engagement.
