Ariel (Ari) Shwayder is an economist, strategist, and consultant who has worked with students and clients around the world to help them think economically, make better decisions, and improve their ability to think strategically.  He is an award-winning teacher of economics, game theory, competitive tactics, and more to bachelors, masters, and executive students at Michigan’s Ross School of Business.  Ari is also the faculty director of Michigan’s top-ranked Executive MBA program.

Outside of the classroom, Ari is a fellow at the William Davidson Institute at the University of Michigan. He was previously a consultant at McKinsey & Company, where he worked on strategic and operational initiatives in financial services, the public sector, and education, as well as with the McKinsey Global Institute. He also previously worked in the U.S. Senate as an economist to the Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee. He holds an AB in mathematics cum laude from Harvard University and an MA and PhD in economics from Northwestern University.
