Synapse Software Technologies bid on and won a subcontract from TRADI Systems Inc. Now the proprietor of Synapse must evaluate the needs of the contract and determine the best system design model to use to develop the contract deliverable. Factors considered include functionality, usability, maintainability, agility, technical scalability, and expandability. Synapse has one week to determine which model is best fit for the contract. This case offers students the opportunity to build a foundation of systems design and analysis. Further, students will be able to analyze an IT organization, its competencies, and resources to assess what systems design approach is not only desirable, but achievable.
