Description

A university student majoring in special education, Michael is tasked with finding the appropriate mix of education modules for Bella, a Grade 5 student and cancer patient. Bella is a high achiever and at the top of her class, but now she is sick, her schooling derailed by chemotherapy treatment. She has expressed her anxiety over not being able to keep up when she goes back to school. What Michael has in store for her, however, is a rigorous set of modules that will help her keep pace with her peers.

Teaching Objectives

After reading and discussing the material, students should:

  • Discuss the various programs that may contribute to a child’s holistic development.
  • Assess the learner’s context and learning profile by conducting an ecological inventory using forms, reports, interviews, surveys, and other related research.
  • Design an educational module that addresses the needs of the identified learner.
