Entrepreneurship in Emerging Markets: 2026 Global Case Writing Competition

WDI is a global non-profit affiliated with the University of Michigan that operates at the intersection of education, entrepreneurship, and impact across emerging markets. We are dedicated to unlocking the power of business and markets to tackle critical global challenges and drive inclusive economic growth. We mobilize entrepreneurs, investors, governments, and academia to drive pioneering solutions across sectors, with a focus on clean energy and e-mobility, climate-health, and health.

WDI Publishing is part of the William Davidson Institute and the case publishing arm of the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan. We develop and distribute business cases used by educators around the world. Our cases immerse students in the kinds of real-world challenges they’ll face as future decision-makers — equipping them to lead in a fast-changing, complex world. Each case sparks critical thinking, broadens perspectives, and brings business realities into the classroom. Covering topics from innovation to sustainability to operating in emerging markets, our collections helps educators shape globally minded, impact-ready leaders.

At the Zell Lurie Institute, we believe the entrepreneurial mindset can be learned and is essential for success in today’s world. Located within the business school, we offer hands-on programs, mentorship, and funding to equip students and alumni from across campus with the knowledge and resources to:

  • Start a venture from ideation to launch and beyond
  • Invest dollars into real startups; you are the venture capitalist
  • Lead an entrepreneurial organization and expand your network
