BoP Impact Assessment Framework

Introduction

Welcome to the interactive version of the Base of the Pyramid Impact Assessment Framework (BoP IAF). The goal of the BoP IAF is to provide businesses with a robust understanding of how their venture affects local BoP stakeholders including customers, sellers/producers and the broader community. The framework, as featured in the Harvard Business Review, provides a holistic view of value created across economic, capability and relationship well-being. The tool is interactive and we encourage you to involve your partners and BoP stakeholders in identifying which impacts apply to your venture.

Data collected with the framework is intended to lead to action and create mutual value so ventures can improve their operations and better meet their stakeholder's needs. Using the BoP IAF to track changes in impact over time, organizations are able to leverage the information gathered in order to continually improve their business model and better meet the needs of those they seek to serve. Once you've filled in the framework you can quantitatively measure a prioritized set of impacts you've selected in order to track and improve key indicators over time. If you need any guidance in moving to quantify the impacts you identify with the interactive framework please see our video for further details, read more about our impact assessment model and past work, or email us at bopresearch@umich.edu
